Sgt. Lawrence Ryan

SGT. L. Ryan of the R.C.A.F., eldest son of Mrs. D. A. Ryan, proprietress of the King George Hotel at Luseland, was killed in an air raid over the Netherlands, his mother has been informed. He was reported missing in early April.

Sgt. Lawrence Ryan was born in Luseland on January 1, 1917, and took all his public and high school education here. Later he attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and a year in the University of Manitoba.

He joined the R.C.A.F. on June 5, 1941, and took his training at Brandon, Fort William, Ont., Prince Albert, and Dafoe, and proceeded overseas in June, 1942.

Surviving are his mother; one sister, Marguerite at home, a sister in Eston; and two brothers, Albert overseas with an army unti, and Leo with the R.C.N.V.R. on the east coast. His father died several years ago.
